The achievements of Emma High School have been wonderful. A school which started with only 85 students in 2004 now boasts of an enrollment of well over 400 students. The school has produced teachers, some of who are back at Emma high school, Doctors, Engineers, Surveyors, accountants, Lawyers, Laboratory technicians, with virtually every profession covered.
In co-curricular activities, basketball is the game that the school has excelled in with volleyball coming second and soccer in third position. No school seems to be near us in Kawempe Division as far as basketball is concerned. There is now a plan to turn the basketball team professional so that the talents of our own students can be exposed further.
I wish to congratulate Nyerere House who were the winners of Music Dance and Dramma and Mandella House who were the winners in sports for the year 2013. What a befitting sendoff it was for the icon of Africa, Nelson Mandela, R.I.P
All the clubs were active this year. Let me thank all of them, but the Interuct Club of Emma high school needs special mention, ”YOU ROCKED”
Seeing you hugging those little children at the Mulago nutrition wards and giving encouragement to the mothers through your donation of fruits, money and sanitary items was a humbling experience.
This was achieved through money raised by car washing at the parents’ visitation day and support from the mother club, the Rotary Club of Portbell. Keep the Rotary fire burning.
This year was also a land mark in the history of the school, when members of staff organized themselves to form a savings and credit organization. This has helped to motivate staff because they can be able to use their savings for personal development, while earning profits from the money lent out at the same time.
Let me welcome to the school the new headteacher Mr. Malinga Mark who brings to Emma high school his many years of experience.
